White undercoat vs black undercoat...

Just a quick thought... I dislike white undercoats SO much. Every single missed spot of paint shows up bright and clear! Black undercoats at least hide the missing paint a bit... thankfully I am dipping my white figures so some of the white spots will be darkened but still... white undercoats are SO unforgiving.

Oh well, almost done with these here Austrians... then back to ACW, where the black covers up all the mistakes!

When I started painting it seemed that all the advice said use a White undercoat. It's still the standard but I've graduated over to a black as my painting style developed. I guess its down to personal preference.

Yeah... I had the good fortune of finding a nice grey and a nice blue undercoat a while back that made my 15mm Civil War figures a BREEZE, and that is why I am back to white for the Austrians, simply to speed things along... the colors do look nice and bright. I also used to use a white undercoat but I switched to black so long ago I don't remember how hard it was!:)
